University Community Children's Choir
| The University Community Children’s Choir is a 60-voice ensemble for children ages 7 to 15 in the Westside and University areas. We welcome students from all backgrounds and musical experiences. | |
Throughout the school year we study and perform exciting, varied repertoire. The choir performs in 2-3 church services per year, full length concerts, and at community events such as the Point Grey Fiesta. The UCCC also offers FREE vocal coaching to participants in the Musicianship Course and/or the Intermediate Choir.
As a community ministry of University Chapel, our goal is to foster a caring community for the child participants and their parents while pursuing with dedication the choir’s musical potential.
In its first year, the choir was recommended to compete at the provincial level after winning in their class at the Kiwanis Music Festival. The older choristers also performed at the Chan Centre in a multi-choir event during Chorfest 2008.
The choir meets every Thursday for rehearsal with an optional musicianship course meeting on Tuesdays. On Thursdays, volunteers from University Chapel provide coffee and refreshments for choir parents.
