Children's Ministry

The vision of our Children's ministry is to see children active about their faith, participating in all aspects of our life as a community, and growing in their maturity as Christians.

We provide numerous classes for all children under the age of 13 who attend University Chapel. Children are always invited to stay for the first 20 minutes to worship as a community and are invited to take banners from the front to wave around the Sanctuary during the songs. We welcome children and parents to be part of this ministry!

What time should you bring your child to University Chapel?

  • At 10:00 a.m. for worship in the sanctuary or 9:30 a.m. for coffee and tea.

Where do your children go after they worship?

  • If your child is 3 to 4 years old they are invited to go to the Preschool Class in the west wing of the church. Our volunteers take turns to be caregivers in the class. Snacks are provided but we encourage parents to bring fresh fruit for children to share.
  • If your child is 5 to 13 years old they are invited to go downstairs to the Big Class (age 5-10) or to the Preteens Class (age 11-13). There they pray, worship, read the Bible, play games, celebrate birthdays, and collect offerings.

What time do you take your child to Sunday School?

  • Children are dismissed from the service at 10:20 a.m.

When should you pick up your child?

  • Teachers would appreciate if you pick up your child immediately after the service.

What do you do if your child is under two years old?

  • Please check out our toddlers nursery across from the library in the foyer. There are two volunteers each Sunday who are caregivers in the nursery. We encourage parents as well to help.
  • We provide delicious cookies! Parents are encouraged to bring a fresh fruit as a shareable snack.

If you have further questions, or want to volunteer in Sunday School please e-mail Abigail Pelayo at abigail@universitychapel.org or call the church at 604-222-0800.
